July 4th! Grandma is 80 When America is 250

July 4th has always been an extra special holiday for us because that is when Grandma Barnes was born! It was super fun and we got to come up to celebrate it, and most of the family was there! We went up the 3rd and spent the night at the Arrington's, which they got a new Queen sized bed that made it a lot easier to sleep lol. On the 4th we started around 11, and we all had a certain decade and set up a themed table! Ours was the 90's and we all had themed shirts and 5 different sections of major music, movies, TV, events and sports. Dad was funny and put the Clinton-Lewinsky scandal and the O.J. Simpson trial which a lot of people who actually grew up at the time found really funny.

We ate lunch, which was amazing BBQ from Chris, that was perfect, per the norm. We then got a nice speech from Grandma about the Barnes' flag and what it meant to her and why each part was designed that way. This was recorded by Grey so that we could enjoy it in future reunions and in her memory later on, so we don't forget our roots. The four sections included a bee hive to show how important they found hard work, the Great Seal of the United States for her patriotism and the importance of where she lives, a section with the letters LDS and an arrow to celebrate religion and staying on the straight and narrow and finally the Barnes name with a symbol, the diamond B, similar looking to this ♦-Bwhich is the symbol used by the Barnes when they were dairy farmers to mark their cattle.

Next Margaret asked all of Grandma's brothers to write memories that they had with her growing up, and we all got a few laughs looking into her life as a kid. Next was the video my dad made to show her life, from before marriage, to marriage to having grandchildren. All sections were amazing and we all loved looking at the past and seeing all the photos of her. We then got to take photos with them and eat cake to celebrate. It was a really nice events and a lot of people were there.

Drove home and went to Kleiner Park that night to look at fireworks with Cailey, Jacks and Jarom. Spent the night with the dogs in our room cause Eevee hates fireworks.
